“Gem in the Indian Ocean”
My wife and I visited the Stonehouse on our vacation last June and were totaly BLOWN away by the experience. We have always enjoyed vacations that are off the beaten path and were told about Lamu by a friend of ours. Upon doing some internet research (very little about Lamu online) we decided to go with the Stone House and we are very glad that we did. We enjoyed a wonderful vacation and the staff at the hotel were wonderful. It is not a 5 star hotel with all the polished finishings but it is comfortable and the staff is more than helpful and willing to make your experience memorable...don't be afraid to ask for anything! If you want a vacation that isn't that cookie-cutter all inclusive experience this is the place for you. The rooms could have been nicer but then again, who goes on vacation to stay in their room the whole time?

Friends getaway walking through the tiny streets of lamu i would have never imagined to find such a lovely enclosed eden of peace. The staff is very friendly and accomodating and the whole experience was idyllic...massages on the roof terrace and the only place we found in lamu that has shisha...and you get to have it on a sailboat :) all in all an outrageously indulgent experience!
